In the meantime however, I purchased my first 3D printed 3rd party part for the Falcon. I bought a Nav chair that goes in the hold.
So here we have the 3D printed chair. It's printed in a transparent plastic.
I then primed the chair with gray primer.
After primming, I painted the chair silver (though it's hard to tell in the photo). After which, I sprayed the chair with hairspray. This creates a shield over the silver to protect the silver layer from more coats of black paint.
So now I have black paint over the chair. Because of the hairspray, I can then lightly scrape the black paint revealing the silver underneath, making the black look worn.
I then painted the cushions of the seat.
Next, I have a photo etch piece of a headset that is worn in the chair for communications. I also have several other of these headsets to be used in the gunner ports once I begin work on those.
Once cut, I bend the headset over a paint brush handle to get the headset curve.
And then paint.
Then attached to the navigation chair.
And a cable added to the headset.
And here we have the chair installed in the hold.
The hold is looking very realistic now.
So stay tuned. MUCH MORE TO COME....
