Pt. 23 Upper Hull Assembly

So over the last few months, I've been collecting the different issues until I could finally complete the upper hull assembly in one shot.  So here we have the final assembly of the upper hull.

The latest issues to arrive over the last couple months were issues 65 - 72.  So I'm almost exactly 75% completed with the build.  These issues were the final upper hull pieces needed to complete the top.

So the upper frame itself finally completed.

Then adding on the hull pieces.

The very rear section of the Falcon is it's own complete assembly.

And the upper hull almost completed.

Next up is assembling the front center nose piece, which will also be the cover for the interior hold section.  There are over 20 little pieces to attach to the nose piece for detailing.

And here we have it with the pieces attached.

After this is attaching one last hull piece, which will cover the rest of the interior hold section and the top of the hull itself.

The piece is attached with 4mm screws.

Magnets are then inserted into the 7 holes of the piece.  This will hold this section to the top of the Falcon.

Bottom side of nose is attached in place with glue.

There are then 8 or so more greeblies to be attached to the completed piece.

And the greeblies attached.

So now some more magnets are glued in place on the frame of the Falcon to hold the center piece in place.

And the nose is put in place.

We then have the radar dish to assemble.

Again, are little greeblie details to attach.

And a compete radar dish.

There are also the 3 holes in the upper hull, where there are engine recess pieces to go in to.  So these now need to be assembled.

Recess #1

Recess #2

Recess #3

And now, the completed upper hull with radar dish and recesses.

The dish makes all the difference.  Really brings the Falcon to life.

And a little sneak peak of how the interior hold is seen through the upper hull assembly.

So that's it for now.  Still about 25% more of the build to come.  Next up is most likely painting the upper hull.  Next issues to be arriving are the mandibles of the Falcon.

So stay tuned.  MUCH MORE TO COME....
